Quantworth\u00ae Fund Advisors (QFA) is a differentiated fundamental equity fund manager. Our process was born out of a desire to give fundamental asset management the powers of modern computing. We differentiate ourselves by leveraging Big Data and AI to power an end to end digital process – from information collection all the way to portfolio construction, risk management and client reporting. Being digital does not mean “human-free” as our experience has taught us that best outcomes can be accomplished when the two are blended.<\/p>\n

We realize the field is full of noise, particularly when it comes to broader spaces like Big Data<\/em> and AI<\/em>. Even within Asset Management, quantamental<\/em>, systematic-fundamental<\/em> and similar terms mean many things to many people. For many it is largely a screen (which gets a lot of miles on the marketing side), for a few it is a differentiated way to create value for clients.<\/p>\n

How we started<\/h2>

The genesis of Quantworth goes back to the times before Cloud, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. A large component of the fundamental portfolio management process is repetitive – reading reports, listening to conference calls, talking with management, forecasting … repeat until you establish a position. After it’s in the portfolio, all of this continues, while also managing the portfolio, sizing risks, communicating with clients. While we loved (and continue to love) delivering results for our clients, we could not help but feel that there was a better way to go about it, a way to do it at scale, in a repeatable and transparent way. All of this while not doing a “one size fits all” job for our investors, as most of our clients had and continue to have bespoke needs.<\/p>\n

We searched and tried a number of approaches over the years. Some of them did not work while others would not be economical. Quantworth was born out of this long period of struggle and, while not perfect, it works! Furthermore, given its architecture, we are able to continuously improve which will, in turn, mean continuously better results for our clients.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>

We are the new generation of fundamental, bottom-up investors.\u00a0 We believe every business has an intrinsic value (representing its worth) and it’s our job to quantify this worth (thus Quantworth\u00ae). This should resonate with anyone familiar with a fundamental bottom up process – a process at the very origin of the industry which has recently come under pressure from a combination of fee pressure, alpha reduction and a more complex regulatory environment.<\/p>\n

We believe there is a better way! Our interdisciplinary approach to fundamental asset management brings all the powers of modern computing. In other words, turn the disadvantages relative to quant and index strategies into advantages. This enables performance, repeatability and scalability – allowing for a very simple business from a regulatory perspective and a superior value proposition for our clients.<\/p>\n

Substantial innovation in the asset management industry necessitates an interdisciplinary approach. In our case, we have blended traditional asset management skills (accounting, finance, operations and supply chain management) with skills traditionally more likely to be found in a physics or a social sciences lab: High Performance Computing clusters, running a parallel computing cluster and using a Message Passing Interface as a communications protocol; Agent Based Modelling simulations; NLP and other machine learning tools. We believe that our domain expertise, extensive knowledge,\u00a0 access to toolsets and focus on the fundamentals (while most look at HFT or quant) differentiate us from traditional equity fund managers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>
